Tales From A Dealer: A Brief Introduction…
First off, I wanna thank the guys of jacktenoffsuit.com for letting me write here, and having my own section. Thanks a ton guys!
Ok, now a bit about myself, and what this will be all about….
My name is Clay, and I am a poker dealer here in Las Vegas, NV. I moved out here 5 years ago on Halloween (time sure does fly) from Texas after leaving college. I didn’t know a single person out here, I just knew this was the town for me. I had recently got into poker my last two years of college, and has small success in SNG’s and small stakes donkaments. Luckily I had great parents who were very supportive of me, and knew I wasn’t going to listen to anything they said anyways. =)
I had about $12k to my name at that time from poker winnings, and paid upfront for a years rent, and spent my first two weeks in Vegas playing the $50 max buyin 1-2nl game at Luxor (lol) and scoping out magazines and Craigslist for jobs. I was reading a cardplayer magazine and saw a new poker room was opening in March and hiring. I looked online and found some poker schools, and enrolled myself to be a poker dealer.
I got hired to open that room and have been dealing there ever since, 4 years now. It’s a great job, great money, and a very laid back atmosphere. Over the past 4 years, I have witnessed some of the most bizarre moments you can ever imagine, so every week, I will be blogging here about some of the things I witness from the felt. I have seen fights, grown men cry, a couple break off their engagement, a man attacked by a lion (I swear), and countless other shenanigans.
Anyways, to sum this up, this should be a great column with real stories, hands, and advice for nOObz that come to Las Vegas.
Till next time….
Peace!
